A software engineer committed suicide by jumping to death from an under-construction building today as police and fire brigade failed to dissuade him from taking the extreme step at the Electronic City, a senior police official said.
"The 23-year-old software engineer hailing from Barsi in Uttar Pradesh leaped to death after we and fire officials failed to dissuade him from taking the suicidal step," DCP (South-East) Rohini Katoch Sepat told PTI here.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Chaudhary, she said.
Local residents saw Rajesh at the rooftop of the building and immediately called police and fire officials, who tried to dissuade him from jumping, Sepat said. Police are investigaing the reason for his taking this extreme step.
Soon after he jumped from the building, Rajesh was rushed to the hospital by the police, but hospital doctors declared him brought dead, Sepat said.
The relatives of the deceased have been intimated and they are on their way to the city, she addded.
