According to Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Amrendra Sengar, the incident occurred on Monday when the victim had stepped out of her home to attend nature's call where the accused, Pawan waylaid and allegedly outraged her modesty.
Immensely disturbed by the incident, the girl took the extreme step, poured kerosene and set herself on fire, Sengar said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC against Pawan and he was arrested today.
