Tehri LS bypoll: Husband of BJP's nominee enters fray

BJP sources said Manujendra had filed his nomination as a precautionary measure.

In case, the papers of party's nominee Laxmi Shah are rejected on some technical grounds, he will be the party's candidate, they said.

"It is a normal practice followed by political parties to play safe and not much should be read into it," BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Ajay Bhatt said.

Shah's wife is pitted against Congress nominee Saket Bahuguna who is the elder son of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna. MORE
