Acting on a tip-off that tehsildar Prakash Kasbe and clerk Kamal Kishore Parihar demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 for transferring land registry papers in the name of the complainant Sanjay Malviya, the anti-corruption agency laid a trap and caught them red-handed, Lokayukta Police inspector Basant Shrivastava told reporters.
A seven-member Lokayukta team raided the office soon after money changed hands but before the officers were caught, they handed over the amount to a person, who escaped from the spot.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the duo and both were released on a bond of Rs 25,000 each.
