Ten places in Odisha record temp above 40 deg C

Heat wave-like condition prevailed in many parts of Odisha today with the mercury crossing the 40-degree Celsius mark in at least ten places.
The industrial town of Angul recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.7 degree Celsius as against 40.7 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, the Meteorological Centre here said.
The temperature in the coal town of Talcher also increased to 41.5 degree Celsius from 40 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while the maximum temperature in state capital Bhubaneswar stood at 40 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
The maximum temperature at Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters town of Kalahandi district, was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 41.1 degrees at Hirakud in Sambalpur district.
Balangir recorded 41 degrees Celsius, while at Jharsuguda it was 40.9 degrees, 40.6 degrees Celsius at Malkangiri, 40.5 degrees at Titlagarh and 40 degrees Celsius at Sundargarh, it said.
