Tension in Phagwara after clash over land dispute

Tension gripped Phagwara city this evening after members of two groups clashed with each other over a land dispute.
Both the groups claimed that the disputed piece of land, located at Bansawala Bazaar, belonged to them.
Members of a group today tried to take possession of the land and were confronted by members of another group leading to the clash, police said.
Six rounds were fired in the air by both the sides. Two women sustained minor injuries in the incident, police said.
A posse of police was deployed to bring the situation under control. Phagwara SP Ashwani Kumar held discussions with representatives of warring sides to resolve the situation.
