With an aim of generating more funds for anti-India activities, Pakistan-based terror outfits are said to be eyeing the upcoming Eid festival during which they plan to sell the skin of sacrificed animals, a business which accounts for millions of rupees every year.
According to sources here, frontal organisations of the terror outfits are on a spree to buy animals which could be sold for sacrifice during the festival which falls on September 25 and their skin sold to fetch money.
The groups involved in this include Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-E-Mohammad, Tehrik-e-Islam, the intelligence inputs suggest.
The intelligence report suggested that banned/under observation organisations use their subsidiaries or front organisations to avert any legal action.
JuD uses Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation, JEM issues receipts in the name of Al Rahman Trust, Harkar-ul-Mujahideen and Ansar-ul-Ummah receive donations in the name of Al-Hilal Trust while Alhe Sunnatwal Jammat uses Al-Esar Welfare Trust for the purpose, sources said.
Quoting an estimate of the Pakistan's Punjab province, the intelligence report says that around 10 million animals were sacrificed on last Eid and their hides were worth Rs 35,000 million (Pakistan Rupee).
According to another estimate, a cow hide can fetch up to USD 50, sources said.
LeT, JEM, Tehrik-e-Islam and other groups have been using their front organisations to coax like-minded people to donate for their respective organisation on the basis of their philosophy of 'Jehad', the sources said.
They also utilise other religious congregations and other gatherings for fund, they added.
