Thailand seeks help from B'desh to locate blast mastermind

Thai police today sought help from Bangladesh through Interpol to help locate the mastermind behind the country's deadliest bombing at a Brahma temple here after investigations indicated that the Chinese man might have fled there.
Police chief designate General Chakthip Chaijinda said information about the possible whereabouts of Abu Dustar Abdulrahman or Izan, a Chinese national, had been confirmed through evidence and testimony from witnesses.
One of the arrested suspects who has been questioned here had indicated that Izan was the mastermind behind the blast that killed 20 people and injured more than 100 others.
"We have already asked Interpol to inform Bangladesh about the latest development concerning the mastermind behind the bomb blast at the Erawan Shrine," Chakthip was quoted by The Nation newspaper as saying.

A key suspect in the case had earlier told the police that Izan left Thailand via Suvarnabhumi International Airport on August 16, a day before the bombing, to China and then headed to Bangladesh.
Chakthip said police was tracing money channelled from foreign countries to see whether it was used in funding the attacks, he said without elaborating.
Referring to the yellow-shirted man who is suspected of being the bomber, he said that police were confident that he would be arrested based on the information and evidence they had in hand.
So far Bangkok police have issued arrest warrants for 12 suspects. Two foreigners have been arrested in connection with the case.
