'The Clan' to close IFFI, 'Danish Girl' mid-festival film

Argentina's Oscar entry "The Clan" will bring the curtains down on the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) while Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne-starrer "Danish Girl" is another major title to be screened at the 10-day movie gala in Goa.
"The Clan", which is also Argentina's biggest box office hit this year, is directed by Pablo Trapero.
The movie is based on the true story of the Argentinian criminal family, Puccio family, and takes place in the final years of the Argentine military dictatorship and incipient return to democracy.
"Danish Girl", also a true story, has created a lot of buzz in international film festivals with its exceptional story and talent that includes Academy Award winning director Tom Hooper of "King's Speech" fame and Redmayne, who won the best actor Oscar this year for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything".

"Danish Girl", which will be the mid-fest film at IFFI, is based on the book by David Ebershoff and tells the remarkable love story inspired by the lives of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener.
Married to Gerda and born as Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener, Elbe was one of the first identifiable recipients of sex reassignment surgery.
