A delegation from The Elders, a London-based organisation of independent global leaders, has sought to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and also proposed to visit a mohalla clinic.
In a letter, dated June 13, written to Kejriwal, Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General and the chair of The Elders, also said, a delegation from the organisation will visit India in September.
A planning team from The Elders's Secretariat will visit Delhi in July, according to the letter, a copy of which was tweeted by Kejriwal today.
"A delegation from The Elders will vist India from September 5-8. The delegation will be led by Gro Harlem Brundtland, deputy chair of The Elders and former prime minister of Norway and former director general of WHO," the letter said.
"She will be accompanied by Ban Ki-moon, member of The Elders and former secretary general of the United Nations," it said.
Annan, in the letter, said he hoped the planning team would be able to meet with Kejriwal's staff to discuss the September visit.
"They (delegation) would be honoured to meet with you during their visit and would also propose to visit a mohalla clinic," he said.
The Elders are an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights.
In January last year, Annan had also commended the city government's flagship mohalla clinic project, aimed at providing free primary healthcare to city residents closer to their home.
Kejriwal, while tweeting the copy of the letter, also hit out at his detractors.
"A very very proud moment for all Delhiites. It is this work that our opponents wish to stop," he tweeted.
The letter from The Elders comes at a time when he and his colleagues are holding a sit-in at the LG office.
