After gap of a few days, fog was back and the road-users faced a lot of hardships due to poor visibility.
Vehicles moved slowly with their headlights on early in the morning, reports reaching here from many places in the two states said.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two neighbouring states, also remained blanketed under thick fog in the morning affecting flight schedules.
According to the MeT Department, the minimum temperatures in the plains of the region today hovered a few notches above normal level.
Ambala in Haryana registered a low of 12.3 deg C, up four degrees while Hisar's minimum settled at 9.4 deg C.
Bhiwani and Narnaul also recorded above normal minimums at 11.2 deg C and 10 deg C, respectively.
In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded a low of 10.3 deg C, four above normal while Patiala's minimum of 11.5 deg C also settled four notches above normal.
However, Amritsar experienced a cold night at 4 deg C, down by one notch.
