Joint Commssioner of Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, P Jayaraman said the construction of the tower would be taken up from the second tier of the temple tower and make it a seven tier one.
The invocation poojas were held by the priests of the temple amidst chanting of vedic and tamil hymns to mark the commencement of the construction of the main tower.
The construction of the tower, by a private donor, would be completed in the next three years, he said.
