Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the ongoing Assembly polls in Assam is not about winning or losing, but it is significant for the future of the state.
"This election does not mean who will win or lose. It does not matter who forms the government or who does not. This election is for the future of Assam," Modi said here at a poll meeting, his last before the second and final phase of voting on April 11.
"You will have to decide the future of Assam. It is also about the future of the youth, women and children of the state," Modi said at the rally in Maligaon Railway Stadium.
Claiming that Assam is moving backward on every issue, he said the state was among the top five after Independence, but is now among the poorest five states in India because of successive Congress governments.
"This is because of the misrule, misdeed, nepotism and corruption by Congress. Do you want to rescue Assam from this deep pit or not? Only one engine in Delhi cannot pull Assam out of this pit. I need one more engines in Assam," Modi said.
Stating that this is his last election rally in Assam, the Prime Minister said: "My dear brothers and sisters, please vote for BJP on April 11 and elect the government with full majority."
The rally attended by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh and Union Sports Minister-cum-BJP's chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal.
Also were present BJP's alliance partners AGP President Atul Bora and BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary along with candidates of the four constituencies in Guwahati.
