Uttar Pradesh minister Shrikant Sharma today said officials found guilty of corruption in the Gomti riverfront project will face stringent action.
"It is a clear policy of the Yogi Adityanath government that it will never enter into an agreement with corruption. Whether the officials are serving or retired, those found guilty will not be spared," he told reporters here.
On the comments of the opposition on the 100 days of the Adityanath government in the state, Sharma said, "The evaluation of the government will be done by the people as it is working in their interest."
Taking a jibe at BSP chief Mayawati, the BJP leader said, "Mayawati has given a 'zero' to the Adityanath government. She should realise that the people of the state have repeatedly given her a zero in 2012, 2014 and 2017. She should not preach anything to this government."
Describing the Congress as a "party without a mandate" and a "sinking ship", Sharma said, "Rahul Gandhi has made sure that the Congress becomes a tail of the regional parties. The party should do some introspection."
He also claimed that Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's recent statement, after meeting former state minister Gayatri Prajapati who has been jailed on a rape charge, was "baseless and devoid of any truth".
"The SP has a tradition of patronising rapists. The BJP will act tough against rapists," he said.
