Thousands participate in Sri Andal temple car festival

: Thousands of people, including Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister R Kamaraj and minister for information and Special programmes K T Rajendra Balaji today participated in Sri Andal temple car festival organised as part of 'Thiru adi pooram' festival and offered worship to the presiding deity.
The festival is celebrated in the Tamil Month of Adi to commemorate the birth of Sri Andal, considered the incarnation of the Goddess of Earth.
During the 12 day festival, Goddess sri Andal and Lord Rangamannar are taken in a procession around the temple in various chariots.
On the ninth day today, idols of the God and Goddess were taken to the car in two different palanquins. After special poojas, the car left the base.
Ramasubramania Raja, Ramco Group chairman and Videhi group of industries Executive Director R Premchander Kalpajha participated in the festival.
The IG (South Zone) Abhay kumar Singh also visited the temple and offered worship.
