Three arrested for stealing petroleum products from pipeline

Police has arrested three men for stealing petroleum products from the Bijwasan-Sonepat pipeline of Indian Oil, through a professionally constructed 23 feet long and 9 feet deep tunnel in Mundka industrial area in west Delhi.
The main accused Jai Kumar, 40, a resident of Najafgarh, was arrested by a police team from his residence. On the information provided by him two other accused Sudesh Gupta, 53, and Joginder, 38, have also been arrested while raids are being made to arrest other accused, said Pushpendra Kumar, DCP(west).
The security chief of IOCL had approached police on June 12 with the complaint that a pressure drop in pipe line at a vacant plot at Gali number 7 of Mundka industrial area, he said.
Cops visited the plot along with IOCL officials and found the plot covered with thick bushes and trees.
On the western corner of the plot a room was located which was locked. The cops broke the lock and were shocked to found a pit through which a pipe of about 2 inch diameter was laid from IOCL pipe line to another godown.
A tunnel, 23 feet long and 9 feet deep was made to reach the pipeline to tap the petroleum products.
A case was registered at Mundka police station and investigation was taken up with gathering information about the plot.
It was found that the godown was rented out to Jai Kumar by the owner of plot Meenu Rally on April 28 this year. Cops raided his residence and arrested him from there, the officer said.
The other arrested accused Sudesh and Joginder were found to be previously involved in similar type of a case registered at Bharatpur in Rajasthan, he added.
