Three arrested with pistols, cartridges in Tripura

Three men were arrested with firearms and ammunition from Sabroom area in South Tripura district on Sunday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed all three of them from a vehicle parked on National Highway-8 and seized two country-made pistols, seven live bullets and four magazines from their possession, SP Jal Singh Meena said.

One of the accused, during preliminary interrogation, said he had secured the weapons from Bhagalpur in Bihar, Meena said, adding that the police were exploring the possibility of their involvement with inter-state arms smuggling rackets.
