According to the FIR registered yesterday in Civil Lines police station area, the victim, a Rampur resident, was approached by the government official, who advised him to buy a flat in Lucknow, Circle Officer, Rampur Police, Aley Hassan said.
The victim then visited Lucknow where he was contacted by the employee of the private company who took him to visit the flat 'site', police said.
The 'papers' of the company were then handed over to the victim, by the accused on May 23 in Rampur, police said.
However, another broker later apprised the victim that the flat in question had already been alloted to someone else and that broker company was not recognised as it was "blacklisted".
