Three children were killed when they fell into a manhole near Durgapur Chowk in Bihar's Purnia district today.
Saurabh Sah (10), Gaurav Sah (8) and Sakshi (10) slipped into the open manhole and died, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjeet Kumar Prabhat said.
The bodies have been recovered, he said.
Local residents took to the streets to protest the alleged negligence of the civil authorities and demanded that the all open manholes be immediately covered to prevent such incidents in future.
