Three dead, 40 injured in multiple road collision

Three persons, including a six-year old boy, were killed and 40 others injured in a multiple collision involving two private buses and a tipper lorry in Malappuram District, police said.
The accident occurred when one of the buses attempted to overtake the lorry at Pongallur, they said.
The minor boy, Amal Krishna, died on the spot while two women succumbed to injuries at different hospitals.
Three critically injured had been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and the others to Nilambur District hospital and Manjeri Medical College hospital, police added.
