Three die in lightning in Assam

A woman was struck by lightning when she was returning from paddy field in Karara village in Baihata Charaili police station this afternoon, the police said.

The woman was identified as Nirala Deka, officials said.

Two others - Sultan Khan and Sikandar Khan - were killed in Khoponi village in Hajo police station when lightning struck them in a paddy field where they were working, the police said.

In a separate incident, two children were feared drowned when the boat in which they were returning from school capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Nagarberra area of Kamrup Rural district.
