Three held for extortion

Three persons, including a Delhi
police constable, have been arrested for allegedly threatening a doctor and his family for Rs 30 lakh ransom in the name of Indian Mujahideen, police said today.
Vikas Choudhary, a Delhi police constable, Pawan Kumar Gurjar, a retired BSF constable while Paramjit Bhatia, a BSF constable were arrested here yesterday for threatening the doctor, his family members and demanding Rs 30 lakh, SSP Preetinder Singh said today.
On interrogation they have revealed that through internet they had downloaded the logo of Indian Mujahideen, a banned terror outfit, and printed letter head in the name of the organisation, the SSP said.
They had even downloaded the doctor's family members' photos from the facebook account, he said adding that they had demanded the extortion to pay their debt.
Vijay Bhatt, the doctor, has lodged an FIR at Sector 24 police station here, in which he stated that he received the letter through courier which was on Indian Mujahideen's letter head with photographs of his family members.
He was told to pay Rs 30 lakh by August 31 else his family members will be kidnapped and shot dead. On August 16, the doctor received another letter demanding extortion money, whereas, on August 26 doctor's wife Sonali received a call from them, his complaint said.
During interrogation, Pawan said that he was a patient of the doctor during his BSF posting at Kashmir, he said.
Whereas, Delhi police constable Vikas Choudhary is a commando and was earlier posted at Prime Miniter security while BSF constable Pramjit presently serving as a special protection guard, he added.
