Three held for murder

Three security guards of a
defunct company have been arrested for allegedly lynching a 55-year-old man for stealing scrap from the premises of the unit located near Kalyan in the district, police said today.
The incident took place last Wednesday and the arrests were made yesterday, they said.
The accused have been identified as Shiv Prasad Pandey (47), Amar Desle (25) and Ram Pratap Singh (68), police said.
"The victim Laxman Bhandari was among the three persons, who had trespassed into the now closed NRC company at Mohane and were found stealing the iron material in the afternoon hours," Police Inspector S D Korde of Mahatma Phule police station in Kalyan said.

"The security guards on duty spotted the trio. While two others escaped, Laxman was caught by them, who bashed him up with iron rods, following which he died," police said.

The guards dumped his body on the tracks.
Based on the complaint filed by one the men who had trespassed the company along with the victim, police launched a probe and registered offences under section 302 (murder) and others of the IPC.
Further investigation is on.
