Police has arrested three men for allegedly robbing a brand new Honda Jazz car at gunpoint in south Delhi's Fatehpur Beri last week.
The robbery took place on June 2 near the Dagar farmhouse in Chandanhaulla area here.
Shakul, employed as a driver with a car dealer in Faridabad, told police that he along with his younger brother Rashid had brought brought six new Honda Jazz cars to Delhi from Rajasthan in a trailer truck, police said.
The duo unloaded the cars at a distance and were driving the cars into a godown at Dagar farmhouse.
Two motorcycle-borne assailants accosted them and the pillion rider, wearing a mask, got into a tiff with Rashid claiming that the car driven by him had hit their two-wheeler, they said.
As Shakul tried to intervene, the pillion took out a firearm and threatened to shoot. They asked for the car keys and one of them fled with the car while the other rode away on the motorcycle, police said.
"The complainant told that vehicles being transported from factory to warehouse do not contain more than 2 to 3 litres of fuel. We started enquiring from fuel stations in the vicinity," DCP (South) Ishwar Singh said.
During the investigation, police procured CCTV footage of a suspect who was seen purchasing five litres of petrol from one of the petrol stations in the vicinity.
Suspecting him to one of the robber, police examined the CCTV footage identified him as Azam (22). He was then detained for questioning, he said.
Based on the information given by Azam police arrested Sundar Tanwar (23) and their accomplice Veer Singh (27) from different locations in Haryana, the DCP said.
The stolen car was also recovered, Singh said.
