"The trio, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das (25), Lituna Behera (27) and Nirnajan Sahoo (27) of Ichapur village, were drunk when they vandalised Mahatma's statue midnight last night," Kendrapara SP Rabi Narayan Behera said.
They were held under IPC Sections 294, 506 and 34 and Section 3 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act after angry locals staged a dharna demanding arrest of the culprits, he said.
"The three were produced in the SDJM court here and sent to jail custody," Behera said.
