The driver of the car, proceeding towards Madurai, lost control of his vehicle due to tyre burst, hit the median, crossed to the opposite lane of the Madurai-chennai highway and collided with the Maruthi van going towards Tiruchirapalli, they said.
The driver and a six year old girl of the van and an old woman travelling in the car to Madurai were killed in the accident, police said.
The occupants of the van including a woman Azhagusundari, and her daughters Sudha(13)and Surya(10) and Swetha(6)were were proceeding towards Tiruchirapalli to receive her husband who was coming from Singapore, when the accident took place.
