Three of family killed in landslide

Three members of a family were buried under the debris of a landslide at Nityroazapara, a sleepy tribal hamlet in South Tripura district, about 130 km from here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when Jamadhan Tripura (32) was sleeping with his family in a hut at the foothills of a hillock and suddenly heard the sound of a landslide, after which he raised an alarm and went out with one of his daughters, they said.
Jamadhan's wife, Ritamala (25) was going out with her four-year-old son and daughter Panthai (2) when big chunks of debris fall on them and they died instantly, police said.

There was heavy downpour since Wednesday night which caused the heavy landslides yesterday, killing three members of the tribal family.
South Tripura district administration paid an ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 to the bereaved family.
