: Three primary school children, including a girl, drowned in a water filled pit on a dried up river at Thailavsal, police said.
They said the trio came to the spot on cycles after school hours and decided to take a bath in the pit, but drowned. As they did not return home, parents went in search of them.
The parents spotted their school bags and cycles on the river bank. With the help of members of the public, the bodies were fished out, police said.
There has been scattered rain in and around Salem in the last two days, filling up spots on the dry river.
