Three under trials escaped from the lock-up when they went to drink water from a hand pump located inside the outpost premises, in-charge of the outpost Thomas Pertin said.
Water supply to the outpost was damaged, so the prisoners were allowed to use the hand pump, he said.
The inmates disappeared taking advantage of the darkness, Pertin said adding at the time of the incident only a constable was guarding the prisoners.
The escaped prisoners were Sahil Tirki, a murder accused and Bidhan Chakma and Chitisu Chakma, both accused in a kidnapping case.
In July last year, 18 under trials escaped from the same outpost after digging a hole in the wall. While four were arrested later, but other 14 are still at large.
