A fisherman was mauled to death by a Royal Bengal Tiger in Sundarbans Tiger Reserve when he was catching crabs in the mangrove forest, the police said.
Ajet Gazi (45) died on the spot when a tiger attacked him in a narrow creek in the forest at Sajnekhali last night, sources said.
He had gone to catch crabs with his friends - Aziz Gazi and Isa Mistri when he was attacked by the tiger. Mistri also got injured when he fought with the tiger to prevent it from dragging away Ajet body.
Both Aziz Gazi and Mistri returned to their village at Satjelia with Ajet's body last night, forest officials said.
