Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy today questioned the honesty of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee by linking him in the coal scam.
Stating that 12 coal-blocks were sold without tender or following any procedure when Bhattacharjee was at the helm of affairs in the state, Roy asked how much money he had taken out of that sale.
"Buddhadev Bhattacharjee presents himself as an honest man. He is crying against scams. But when he was the Chief Minister, 12 coal-blocks were sold without any tender or following any procedure," Roy said at an election meeting here in Birbhum district.
He said, "the coal-scam is of around Rs 1.94 lakh crore. I like to ask Buddhababu how much money have you taken, how much had gone to your party fund and to your daughter's NGO?"
Hinting that Bhattacharjee, who is a CPI(M) politbureau member, was being shielded by Congress, the senior TMC leader asked him to wait for the results of Lok Sabha elections to come out when "there will be no Congress government and all the corruption cases will be probed.
