Senior IPS officer Rishi Kumar Shukla today joined as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at police headquarters (PHQ) and is tipped to take over as the next DGP.
The 1983-batch IPS officer was earlier Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation.
It is a normal practise in Madhya Pradesh to appoint one of the senior most IPS officers as OSD at the police HQ prior to his elevation as Director General of Police, PHQ sources said.
The current DGP Surendra Singh will retire on June 30 and Shukla will replace him as head of the police force, they added.
