Tourism Ministry to promote Jagannath temple's ritual

The Tourism Ministry will promote the 2015 'Nabakalebar' ritual of Jagannath temple, Puri across the globe and provide funds for infrastructure development for the festival.
The Ministry has also decided to sanction funds to India Tourism Development Corporation for light and sound shows at Konark, Dhauli and Udaygiri.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said this at a meeting here today where he reviewed the action taken on important issues discussed during his interactions with the Union Ministers last year.
The meeting noted that the Home Ministry has agreed to deploy two additional BSF battalions for anti-naxalite operations in the state and that the DoT has been asked to expedite the proposal to install mobile towers and digital phone terminals in the naxalite-affected areas.

Patnaik was also informed that the Tribal Affairs Ministry has recommended the proposal of the state for livelihood improvement of particularly vulnerable tribal groups to the Department of Economic Affairs for funding by multi-lateral agencies.
