Track circuit failure delays metro services on blue line

Passengers travelling on Delhi Metro's blue line (Dwarka to Noida/Vaishali) had to face delayed services due to failure of a track circuit near the Rajendra Place station.
"The problem occurred on the Blue line, going towards Dwarka at 9.02 AM today, which led to the running of trains on restricted speed of 25 kilometres per hour between Rajendra Place and Patel Nagar Metro stations," an official statement said.
"This is leading to the bunching of trains on the line causing minor delay of services," it said.
DMRC officials said that efforts were made thrice since morning to rectify the track circuit problem by allowing limited duration access in the interest of the continuity of service to the technical team at the tracks.

However, they claimed that the services will be completely restored by tomorrow morning only.
"Prima facie, it appears the track circuit needs detailed investigation to identify the actual cause of problem for which access to track is required for longer duration. This is preferred to be done after revenue hours only.
'"Till then, services on entire line will be running with minor delay and it will be ensured from the Control Centre by continuous monitoring at officers' level that the bunching is not more than 2 to 5 minutes during peak hours," the officials said.
