A 24-year-old train ticket examiner, residing in railway colony Ambala Cantt, died of suspected dengue in a private hospital at Mohali in Punjab.
The victim, Roshan Lal, was suffering from high fever since a fortnight. He was admitted to the railway hospital initially but when his condition did not improve he was referred to GMCH Sector-32, Chandigarh.
Later his relatives got him admitted in the private hospital at Mohali where he succumbed to his illness last night.
Roshan was recruited in Railway about three years back.
Civil Surgeon Ambala Dr Vinod Gupta told reporters here today that a team of doctors of civil hospital Ambala city had been sent to the private hospital to collect the records of the deceased.
Lal may have been a suspected dengue patient, but only after examining the records and test reports from the hospital, doctors would be able to confirm the exact cause of death, he said.
Meanwhile, a door-to-door survey was conducted in Railway colony today to check any case of high fever, the civil surgeon added.
