Transgender activist Kalki Subramaniam's art show concludes

Well-known transgender rights activist and actor Kalki Subramaniam displayed her artworks at an exhibition here, claiming to be the first-of-its-kind in the country.
The three-day art show, which concluded here today, showcased her journey as a transgender with a new perspective through acrylic and water colour paintings.
"This is the first-of-its-kind in the country, where a transgender artist has exhibited her work," Kalki said.
Stating that her water colour works were done in 2015, Kalki said large acrylic creations were done from March to May this year.
The paintings portray her identity not only as a transgender woman, but also as a liberated spirit, her happiness, deep pain, perseverance and her perspective of people and beings and their lives, the artist said, adding that she planned to tour the world with her work.

"Art is orgasmic, spiritual and I paint with the enthusiasm of a child. I don't stick to rules as I don't even know what they are," Kalki said.
