The National Green Tribunal today directed Delhi government to ensure that no trees are cut on the service lane in East Delhi's Yamuna Vihar area.
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar issued notice to Delhi government and sought its reply by October 12.
"In the meanwhile, we direct the respondent (Delhi govt), their officers or agents or, any other department not to cut/fell any tree standing on service lane in Yamuna Vihar, East Delhi," the bench said.
The direction came after advocate S D Windlesh mentioned the matter before the Tribunal and sought status quo on the service lane in Yamuna Vihar.
