East Singhbhum Swimming Association (ESSA) organised the district level competition at D P International Swimming Academy here to pick up swimmers (boys and girls) of different age groups for participating in the Jharkhand state level swimming competition to be held in June to select the final Jharkhand state team for the national meet, said Deepak Kumar Singh, Secretary of ESSA.
Altogether 90 swimmers participated in the selection trial and the selected ones would take part in the state level competition in Ranchi in June, Singh said.
In the sub-junior category, he said Rana Pratap, who participated in the 9 to 10 years age group, recorded 45 seconds in the 100 metre freestyle event.
The players performed after two months training, while we have still two months time left for the national meet, Singh said expressing confidence on improving the timing.
