A 25-year-old Japanese youth from the Igatpuri-based 'Vipassana' centre was rescued by tribals from a 700-metre rocky hill, where he had gone for trekking, the police said here today.
The Japanese youth had climbed the mountain alongwith four others, when he slipped and got trapped on a rock, after which he began shouting.
Later, tribals Dattu Kamadi, Kashinath Kamadi, Murlidhar Kamadi and others rushed to the spot with ropes and rescued the youth, the police said.
