Rich tributes were paid to noted historian Tapan Raychaudhuri, who had passed away last year in November.
The University of Calcutta along with NGO Calcutta Cultural Centre organised a programme to remember the contribution of Raychaudhuri in history.
CU Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das, also an historian, said Raychaudhuri wrote many books on history in Bengali which helped common people shape their understanding on the subject.
Pallab Mitra, Secretary of the NGO said he was a distinguished historian of modern India's economic and intellectual history.
He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2007.
