"This is a country which believes that you can eat what you want, wear what you want. The Centre's notification is undemocratic, unethical, unconstitutional," TMC MP Derek O'Brien said at the 94th birthday celebrations of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi here.
The TMC spokesperson, while offering his felicitations to Karunanidhi, said certain big issues had already been raised by the DMK patriarch.
"The first one, very close to his (Karunanidhi's) heart, is women's reservation. We want the Women's Reservation Bill and we want it fast," he said.
"The other issue raised by Kalaignar (Karunanidhi), which also reflects the views of TMC supremo Mamataji (Banerjee), is protecting the regional languages. Whether it is Tamil in Tamil Nadu or Bengali in Bengal, the regional languages are important," he said.
Earlier, O'Brien heaped praise on DMK working president M K Stalin, describing him as a "worthy son of a great father".
"We all have responsibilities. There is a lot of hope pinned on a worthy son of a great father. We wish Stalin well in whatever he does...," he said.
