TRS Government in Telangana is on course to implementing its election promises like housing for the poor and a slew of other welfare schemes for various sections of society, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said today.

Addressing a massive public meeting organised here on the occasion of TRS plenary, he said the government would provide nine-hour free power supply to farmers during day time from March next year.

Farmers would not have to go to their fields during night time as they do now and they would get electricity during day hours, he said.

Referring to flagship drinking water project of his government, Rao said TRS would not even ask for votes (in next polls) if water is not provided to the people.

Construction of two-bed room houses, an election promise of TRS, would begin from May, he said.

Reaching out to the unemployed youth, he said the large number of vacancies in government would be filled up soon. "The jobs of contract staff would be regularised."

The social security pensions have been hiked from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 and the beedi workers are now provided with pensions, he said.

Dismissing the criticism of Opposition parties of his government, Rao said he is ready for a debate with rival leaders on the welfare programmes being implemented.

Having succeeded in achieving separate statehood, the TRS is now leading the state towards accomplishing the goal of a 'Bangaru Telangana' (golden Telangana), he asserted.

The rally at the sprawling Parade Grounds in Secunderabad saw lakhs of people from across Telangana attending the event, for which the ruling party had made elaborate arrangements.
