TRS' idea of federal front is plan B of BJP: CPI

CPI General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy today said the Telangana Rashtra Samiti's idea of a federal front is "actually a plan B of the BJP" and the opposition needs to forge state-based alliances to take on the saffron party in 2019.

After a two-day meeting of the CPI national executive, Reddy expressed satisfaction over the party's initiative to unite all secular democratic forces to defeat the BJP.

"We were one of the first parties to say that the need of the hour is to have a state-based alliance of secular democratic parties to defeat the BJP. We have been proved right.

"All opposition parties should chalk out a strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The TRS' idea of a federal front is only a plan B of the BJP," Reddy told reporters.

The Left party has also decided to protest the recent fuel price hike on June 20.

The party has asked all its units to conduct an awareness campaign in August to "expose the misdeeds of the Modi government".

It has also decided to take out protest marches from "four corners of the country" with the slogan "Save the Constitution, Save the Nation". The marches, which will begin in September and culminate in the first week of October, will be led by senior leaders of the party.
