Truck carrying 27 kg meat seized in Mathura, driver arrested

A truck, carrying 27 tonnes of meat from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh to Ghaziabad was seized and its driver arrested from Mat toll plaza area on Yamuna expressway in the district, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, driver of the truck driver was arrested and meat recovered from the vehicle this evening, a senior police official said.
"27 tonnes of meat being carried from Bhopal to Gaziabad by a truck bearing Madhya Pradesh Number was nabbed at Mat toll plaza on Yamuna Expressway," Dy SP Sanjai Kumar said.
According to Kumar, the meat sample has been sent for examination to Deen Dayal Veterinary University Mathura to check its origin.

"Driver Chand Mohammad, son of Pyare Lal and resident of Pathan Tola, District Badayun was arrested and truck carrying meat has been seized," he said, but did not rule out the involvement of a racket in the trade.
