Sukhdev Singh, hailing from Punjab's Amritsar town, was shot dead by some men, alleged to be toll plaza employees, last night following heated arguments, police said.
This triggered protests by locals who pelted stones at the toll plaza office and blocked the NH-28 for 12 hours hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the road on Motihari-Kathmandu highway.
The police and civil officials went to the spot and pacified the agitators.
An FIR has been lodged on the basis on statement by another driver Major Singh, also hailing from Punjab, slapping murder charges against unnamed toll plaza employees.
