Turmeric futures fall 1.82 pc on profit-booking

Turmeric prices were down by 1.82 per cent to Rs 7,656 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators booked profits amid fall in demand in spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April month fell by Rs 142, or 1.82 per cent, to Rs 7,656 per quintal with an open interest of 22,170 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts moved down by Rs 124, or 1.57 per cent to Rs 7,778 per quintal in 11,425 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators, fall in demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly pulled down turmeric prices at futures trade.
