Two-and-half-year killed in accident

A two-and-half-year old boy died on the spot after coming under the rear wheels of a vehicle driven by a youth here, police said today.
Shahban, a resident of Ajitganj colony in Babupurva and son of a transporter Lallu Khan, was reversing his vehicle yesterday evening. It was then when, Yash, son of Khan's neighbour Amit Prajapati, who was playing outside, came under the vehicle's rear wheels and was crushed to death, a police spokesman said.
Shabhan fled the spot soon after the incident, but agitated parents of the deceased and some other locals started demonstrating. Police intervened and the situation was soon brought under control, he said.

The child's body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered against Shahban and police have taken one of his relatives in custody, he added.
