The avalanche hit between Razdan post and Z-Gushi in snow-bound Gurez sector, 120 kms from here, around 1400 hours, a police officer said.
Two Army porters were reported missing after the avalanche and a rescue operation has been launched to recover them missing porters, the officer said.
High altitude areas of Kashmir Valley including Gurez experienced first heavy snowfall early this week.
Two to five feet of snow was recorded in the upper reaches of the Valley, as a result of which most of the far-flung areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora and Kupwara districts were cut off from the district headquarters.
