Dakuri Babu and his nephew Karne Umesh, who shot at D Yadagiri on August 13, were arrested from here yesterday. They were sent to judicial remand today, Bowenpally Police Station Inspector K Kiran said.
The duo, on a bike, had waylaid Yadagiri who was on scooter near a hospital and attempted to kill him by firing three rounds at him with two country-made revolvers, the Inspector said.
The accused had also opened fire inside the hospital and terrorised the patients before fleeing, he said.
A case was registered and during the course of investigation it came to light that Babu and Yadagiri resided in the same locality and were known to each other.
"Babu bore a grudge against Yadagiri after he failed to give promised amount of money to him with regard to a murder case of 2009 over a disputed land and for arranging a plot of 100 yards," the Inspector said, adding, Yadagiri had mediated in the incident.
When Babu approached Yadagiri for payment, he avoided him following which he decided to eliminate the victim, the Inspector said.
Babu has a past criminal record and is involved in 14 cases, including two brutal murder cases, besides robbery and dacoity cases and one Arms case. Eleven Non-Bailable Warrants (NBW) are also pending against him, theofficer added.
