Ishfaq Shafi Kana of Jamia Qadeem locality and Saleem Mushtaq Beigh of Sheikh Sahib area were arrested from Sopore, 55-kms from here, yesterday, a police spokesman said.
"The May 19 grenade attack on police station Sopore has been solved with the arrest of the duo who were working at the behest of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant," the spokesman said.
Quoting the preliminary investigation, the spokesman said Hizbul Mujahideen militant Javid Ahmad Matoo alias "Saqib", a resident of Khushalmatoo locality of Sopore, had handed over a hand grenade to Kana on May 18 at his house.
"Thereafter Kana along with one more culprit (Beigh) jointly lobbed the grenade on the police station next morning injuring three policemen and six civilians", he said.
He said on the basis of testimony of eye-witnesses the duo were identified and subsequently arrested.
Matoo, who was injured during an attack on a police party by militants on January 7, is still evading arrest and efforts are on to nab him, the spokesman said.
